The Clubhouse guarantees four main rights:
The daily activity of the Suaimhneas Clubhouse is organised around a structured system known as the "Work Ordered Day".
The work ordered day operates during regular business hours from Monday to Friday, focusing on the strengths, talents and abilities of members.
Throughout Suaimhneas, members perform many of the same tasks they would perform in the workplace, tasks that are genuinely needed to keep the Clubhouse running.
Unit meetings are held every day in the morning and afternoon to organise the work of the day.
Members can become involved either of the following units:
Business, Employment & Education Unit:
The typical work in this unit includes reception, typing, filing, correspondence, publication and broadcasting of our newsletters, outreach and managing the employment/education programmes.

Catering & "Hot Kups" Unit:
This unit is responsible for the preparation of a daily meal, menu planning, ordering provisions, general maintenance, outreach and operation of our coffee shop, "Hot Kups".
No, membership of Suaimhneas is voluntary and lifelong. Members are encouraged to attend as often as possible and volunteer to participate as they feel ready, and according to their individual interests.
Many Suaimhneas members combine Suaimhneas with work, education and family commitments.
Each member is given the message that he or she is welcome, wanted, needed and expected each day – but how often you attend is completely up to you!
No, the main aim of joining a clubhouse is for members to work towards their own recovery.
Through work done in the clubhouse members gain skills and confidence, which enables them to avail of employment opportunities in the community.
We suggest that members choose one unit after they have completed orientation.
This facilitates a sense of community in each of units; everybody knows what's going on and what needs to be done. It also allows strong relationships and lasting friendships to be established.
If however you are unhappy, have concerns about working in a specific unit or just fancy a change we would suggest talking to your Support Staff Member who'll support you to change units – it's absolutely no problem!
Employment Programmes:
As a right of membership Suaimhneas Clubhouse provides members with opportunities to return to paid employment. Members can explore the potential for independent, supported and transitional employment.
Education:
Suaimhneas Clubhouse encourages and supports members to explore adult education opportunities in local schools and colleges. We also utilise the talents and skills of members and staff to provide educational opportunities in the Clubhouse.
Community Support:
Members are given support to access the best quality services in their community, for example medical services, benefits, housing and any other services that they might need.
Evening and Weekend Social Programme:
Suaimhneas Clubhouse offers an evening and weekend social programme to all members who wish to participate. These activities are organised by members and staff together and take place outside the work ordered day. Activities can be anything from going to the cinema to a weekend break away.
There are no guarantees for TE placements.
We emphasise that members should come to Suaimhneas and get involved in the work units to get to know staff and other members, who will then help them get to know what TE's are available and what TE's might be right for them.
Part of the daily work of the Clubhouse involves keeping in touch with all the members.
When a member does not attend or is in hospital an "outreach" telephone call or visit is made.
Each member is reminded that he/she is missed, needed and welcome at the Clubhouse. Outreach ensures that members who are not attending, whatever the reason, are still part of the Clubhouse community.
In Suaimhneas Clubhouse a person who has struggled with mental health difficulties is seen first as a valued participant, a colleague, and someone who has something to contribute to the rest of the group.
Each person is a critical part of the community engaged in important work. Suaimhneas is designed to be a place where a person with mental health difficulties is not a patient and is not defined by a disability label.
There are no doctors, nurses or therapists working in Suaimhneas. The role of staff member is not to educate or treat the members.
Suaimhneas staff are there to engage with members as colleagues in important work and to be encouraging and engaging with people who might not yet believe in themselves. Clubhouse staff are charged with being colleagues, workers, talent scouts and cheerleaders.
Members utilse the services of the Community Mental Health Team or other health care providers at locations other than Suaimhneas Clubhouse.
We are open from 8.30a.m. until 4.00p.m. Monday to Thursday and from 8.30a.m. until 3.00p.m. on Fridays
We also have additional evening and weekend social activities. Dates and times to be decided by the membership during Weekly House Meetings.
